About Buena
Buena (backed by GV) makes everything real estate as simple and transparent as buying an ETF. Whether it's finding, buying, or financing an apartment. We do this by acquiring property managers across Germany and turning them into technology companies. Throughout the past 2 years we have become Germany's Second-largest property manager with less than 25 full-time team members at our HQ.
We’re hiring a core addition to our engineering team to rebuild an industry stuck in the early 2000s. You’ll work closely with our founders, head of product, and design team in Berlin.
Responsibilities:
Designing, building, and shipping product features end-to-end, from early ideas to rollout and iteration.
Taking ownership of parts of the product and contributing to architectural decisions that shape how our systems evolve.
Improve performance and reliability across our core systems.
Collaborating closely with product and design to translate real-world operational workflows into simple, reliable, AI-enabled software
Help us shape engineering culture as we grow, be it Engineering Practices, Technical Standards or workflow optimisations.
You may be a good fit if you:
You have shipped and operated production web applications end-to-end, and are comfortable owning features from idea through deployment and iteration.
You are proficient in TypeScript and have strong experience with React and Node.js (or comparable modern full-stack environments).
You are able to independently design, build, and deliver features with minimal guidance, including making pragmatic product and technical decisions.
You understand how modern web systems work in practice, including APIs, frontend state management and backend architecture.
You take ownership seriously: you care about outcomes, move quickly, and are comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations without waiting for perfect specifications.
German helps in day-to-day domain context and is a strong plus, but not required.
Your Benefits:
€80,000–€120,000 base salary + virtual stock options
Up to €500 close-to-office bonus, if you decide to live within 10-20 mins walking distance to our office.
€110/month lunch budget, €50 fitness subsidy.
€1,200 yearly education budget.
Free books: Buena pays for any book you'd like to read.
Your Interview Process:
Recruiter Interview (15-30 min)
Hiring Manager Interview (30 min)
Focus on ownership mindset, product and outcome thinking, trade-off reasoning, and overall engineering and team fit. No system design or coding.Technical Deep Dive (60–90 min)
Deep dive into past work, including architecture decisions, trade-offs, scaling challenges, failures, and API/data model design.On-site Interviews (2-3 hours max)
Includes conversations with leadership and peers, a practical engineering exercise (debugging, small build task, or architecture walkthrough), and a focus on collaboration style, communication, and cultural fit.
Why you should apply now:
We're high-growth with a small, tight-knit team: Within the past 3 years we have become Germany's second largest property manager with around 20 full-time employees.
We're meritocratic: Your impact gets rewarded, quickly. Our CEO was a Junior Product Manager 3 years ago, our COO was a Chief of Staff 2 years ago.
We're personal: We work from our office in Prenzlauer Berg and place high value on knowing each other well.
We care about outcomes: Homeownership rates in Germany are far below the European average. We're here to enable wealth creation for everyone.
