Superhuman offers a dynamic hybrid working model for this role. This flexible approach gives team members the best of both worlds: plenty of focus time along with in-person collaboration that helps foster trust, innovation, and a strong team culture.
The Opportunity
Superhuman is the AI productivity company behind Grammarly, Coda Docs, and Superhuman Mail — trusted by over 30 million people and 70,000 professional teams every day. Our mission is to unlock the Superhuman potential in everyone. We believe AI should be a superpower for humans, not their replacement — and our products deliver on that promise everywhere people work and communicate. Grammarly has been profitable for over a decade because we’ve stayed true to our values and built an enterprise-grade product that’s secure, reliable, and helps people do their best work — without selling their data.
We’re looking for a macOS Software Engineer to join our Grammarly for Mac team. This team is responsible for the end-to-end development of a product that brings Grammarly’s sophisticated AI directly to Mac users — helping people communicate better everywhere they write. From instantly improving a first draft to perfecting every message, Grammarly helps people at 96% of the Fortune 500 get their point across and get results.
You’ll work with a team of engineers fueled by creativity and exploration, building the features and infrastructure that make Grammarly an indispensable part of the Mac experience. Our engineers have the freedom to innovate and uncover breakthroughs — and, in turn, shape our product roadmap. The complexity of our technical challenges is growing rapidly as we scale our interfaces, algorithms, and infrastructure.
Your Impact
As a macOS Software Engineer, you’ll build a complex, multifaceted product with real opportunities for creativity and innovative problem-solving.
In this role, you will:
Contribute to the foundation of a robust, well-thought-out architecture
Innovate to break through technical limitations and deliver delightful features
Build non-trivial UX solutions with complex UI elements
Achieve minimum latency while working with complex documents
Ensure performance by applying your knowledge of algorithms and data structures
Develop shared components used across Grammarly’s Apple platform product offerings
Use Swift, AppKit, and CoreGraphics while employing engineering best practices
Qualifications
Is driven by our mission — to unlock the Superhuman potential in everyone — and leads with our values:
(Super) Human-Centered — keeps users at the heart of every decision; measures true success by the value delivered to users
Win with Grit — takes ownership of outcomes, stays with problems through the messy middle, and relentlessly pursues the work “below the surface”
Craft Remarkable Delight — sweats the details to deliver experiences so good users can’t help but remark on them
Think from First Principles — challenges assumptions, reframes problems from the ground up, and cuts through convention to find what actually matters
Grow Ideas from Anywhere — seeks context widely, listens before evaluating, and creates space for every perspective
Prioritize the Pond — makes decisions that strengthen the whole; acts like an owner
Has strong knowledge of Swift, OOD, and OOP, as well as multithreading (GCD)
Brings strong software engineering fundamentals, including knowledge of algorithms and data structures
Is fluent in engineering best practices: code review, test coverage, and monitoring
Is excited about finding optimal solutions in situations of uncertainty
Enjoys fast-paced delivery and a consistent feedback loop
Has experience developing desktop applications that work with Mac internals (preferred but not required)
