    Job Description

    We are looking for a Senior Solutions Engineer (Google Workspace & Slack) to join our  Enterprise Applications team, based in Berlin, Germany.

    As part of our Enterprise Technology Services department (ETS), you will tackle high-impact challenges that will directly improve the working experience for employees across the globe. Each enhancement you contribute to our collaboration platforms will help optimize daily operations and ensure a secure, efficient working environment for our entire company group.

    As a Senior Solutions Engineer (all genders) you will work hands-on within our Enterprise Technology Services team at the company headquarters in Berlin, collaborating closely with our Global Service Desk and other distributed teams. In your role, you will provide technical leadership and manage our complex, group-wide Google Workspace and Slack environments with tens of thousands of users. You will be part of a team where you will exert a strong influence on the domain level and group-wide within your area of expertise.

     

    • You will manage our complex, group-wide Google Workspace, Slack, and Enterprise Applications environments with tens of thousands of users.

    • You provide technical support for the most complex issues (L3 support) and solve critical emergencies, acting as the ultimate escalation point for global users, stakeholders, and junior support staff

    • You own and drive complex initiatives and cross-platform projects to improve our environment, striving to reduce complexity by finding simple, pragmatic solutions while maximizing impact

    • You proactively design, review, and improve the architecture and business processes of your team, as well as company-wide processes and guidelines, collaborating with engineering and security teams to coordinate IT and compliance policies

    • You act as a thought leader and lead through influence, effectively communicating your ideas, authoring comprehensive technical documents and RFCs (Requests for Comments), and evaluating new technologies by leading cross-team Proof of Concepts (POCs)

    • You create group-wide alignment by collaborating closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to decrypt unclear requirements, define strategic directions, and align technology and resourcing needs

    • You take an active role in coaching and mentoring IC1 and IC2 engineers, provide insightful peer reviews, and participate in the hiring process to continually raise the bar for the engineering team

    Qualifications

    • 6+ years of relevant professional experience managing, architecting, and administering collaboration platforms in a large-scale enterprise environment.

    • A broader understanding of enterprise application landscapes, with the ability to evaluate, onboard, and support tools that are critical to daily operations across the DH group.

    • A proven track record and strong expertise in Google Workspace and Slack administration, including managing large-scale organizational units (OUs), shared drives, and Slack Enterprise Grid features.

    • Solid experience with engineering best practices, with a strong consideration for observability, maintainability, scalability, security, and code quality

    • Great analytical and problem-solving skills that allow you to independently apply best operating principles in reliability management (e.g., resiliency, monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting) and provide inventive, secure, and cost-effective solutions

    • You are great with people. Creating group-wide alignment and negotiating with stakeholders comes naturally to you. You actively seek out diverse perspectives, listen to feedback, and foster a shared understanding across teams

     

    Nice to have:

    • Active certifications, such as the Professional Google Workspace Administrator or Slack Certified Administrator.

    • Hands-on experience with the GAM tool, Google Vault, and leveraging Google Workspace or Slack APIs, as well as some experience with utilizing AI tools like Claude Code to build solutions.

    • Experience with identity and access management (IAM), Single Sign-On (SSO), and automating workflows through programming languages or low-code/no-code platforms.
