What you’ll do & Who you are We’re looking for a dynamic Data Engineer to join our Dealer Product Team at mobile.de Germany’s leading automotive marketplace. Our cross-functional team brings together frontend, backend and full-stack engineers, a product manager, a UX designer, and an agentic systems engineer. As a key member of our agile team, you’ll collaborate with our product manager and the wider team to develop impactful dealer products that improve the automotive marketplace, building the reliable data foundations that power smarter, more confident decisions across the platform. If you’re passionate about applying modern data engineering to make a tangible difference, we want to hear from you. Completed degree in data engineering, data science, (business) computer science, or a related field, or comparable practical experience. Hands-on experience with big data technologies in cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform. Familiarity with building data integration pipelines and working with commonly used data technologies such as dbt, Airbyte, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, or BigQuery. Experience with relational databases and modern data warehouses, along with confidence in data exploration using SQL. Practical knowledge of BI tools such as Looker or Tableau and the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Comfort working with containerization tools like Docker and a basic understanding of CI/CD practices. Openness to using AI tools and LLM-assisted workflows to improve productivity and data solutions, combined with curiosity about how AI can enhance data engineering work. Design, implement, schedule, and oversee ETL/ELT pipelines into the data lake and data warehouse, following software engineering best practices. Build and maintain clean, well-tested, and well-documented data models in dbt, ensuring strong usability for analysts and business users. Contribute to the creation and definition of reports and dashboards that increase transparency across current business processes. Collaborate closely with analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and product managers, while taking ownership of data quality and proactively addressing issues. Identify opportunities where data can enable better products and business decisions, and confidently experiment with new tools and approaches, including AI. Working at mobile.de comes with its perks!
